About Propolis - Royal Jelly - Pollen

As one of the natural bee products, propolis is a resin-like substance collected by bees from the leaves, stems and buds of plants and is very rich in terms of antioxidants. Bees use propolis as an antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral agent in the hive and to create a sterile environment inside the hive and to protect the health of the bee colony.
Royal jelly is a nutritious food that is produced by bees by consuming plenty of pollen and honey and by secreting it from their hypopharyngeal glands. Worker bees use royal jelly to feed queen bee and its babies. The baby bee which is fed with royal jelly matures quickly. And the queen bee, which only feeds on royal jelly for all her life, grows to become twice as large as worker bees and reaches a reproductive efficiency expressed in terms of thousands of eggs per day. While the average life span of a worker bee is 45 days, queen bee can live as long as 5 to 7 years which is again the result of royal jelly, the only nutrition for her...
Pollens are the sperm cells located on the stigma of the pistil of plants. The bees collect pollens from flowers and utilize it for feeding larvae and worker bees that produce royal jelly. As a major source of protein and vitamin, pollen plays an important role in the nutrition of bees and it contains fats, carbohydrates, fibers, minerals, amino acids, phenolic compounds and vitamins.
